Fun Times Silent Ball

We began the year playing this game and 90% of this class could not catch a tennis ball let alone throw one. They are now becoming real experts at this game and this game has now become competitive. It does need focus and concentration and ohhh to be the last man standing!

Last Day Term 1 2022

YAY!!! WE MADE IT! We decided to have a FUN day for the last day of school. It's been an up and down term with COVID and most of our students returned back to school from Week 7. Today is our WAKA race day and Ms Tali was given a rope and decided to bring it to school so we could play good ol' Tug of War. It was a fun day with lots of laughs.

TEAM FOLAU 1st Assembly 2022

Today we were able to have our first team Folau assembly 2022 acknowledging students who challenged themselves throughout Term 1 with so much happening in their learning, their well being and growth mindset. Here's hoping Term 2 will go without any setbacks with lockdowns, isolations and student/teacher hauora.

Yes we have decided to continue with the enthusiasm for the game of Chess. Many of Team Folau students have been learning how to play the game Chess. This is a really good game to know how to play as it teaches thinking new Strategies and Patience. This term Miss Te'o ran the Chess knockout round and now we are moving on to Term 2 with 13 semi finalists who may play on into Term 3 to find our final 4 players in Term 4 to play off for the 2022 JBS Champion.

Here are some of our semi finalists - as knockout round became a tad fiesty and needed another playoff the following day  - this is some serious Chess players 😁😁😁😂😂😉👌

Chess

Chess is an abstract strategy game.  It challenges the mind and thought process in taking down the most prized possession THE KING. What a good start to children's lives to learn and play chess. In 2020 we had one day of knockout rounds until the last 4 were standing to take the places 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. There were lots of tears and dramas but the students who have returned this year have come back stronger. This year we have 24 students and we played our first round in Term 2 knocking out 12 where each player had one game. In term 3 we will knock out 6 they will have 3 games to play. The final 4 will go on to the finals in Term 4 to find our 2021 champion. Great to see girls joining the game.

Let the games begin.....💥💥💥💥

Celebrating Matariki 2021

In the beginning of the year when school commenced for 2021 students were tasked to write down at least 3-5 goals they wanted to achieve in 2021.  Their goals were posted onto their Blogs. As we head into celebrating Matariki from the 19th of June to the 11th of July I felt it best that students revisit their goals, new beginnings and new goals, based on what they have/have not achieved so far.  Some goals remained the same and some changed with different aspirations. Let's get these goals into fruition and start making it happen. 👌👍💣💣

Samoan Language Week 2021

What a fun week Room 3 had. We learned alot about the Samoan people, Samoan legends and also learnt 2 new songs and some Team Folau students learnt how to aiuli and taualuga. We also made Samoan Jam and Koko alaisa - some staple foods that all Samoans enjoy on a budget.

We created some awesome art work and put it up on our walls. We learnt about Sina and the Eel and discussed twists and turns of the story. It has been a busy week and we ended the week with our Team Folau assembly and congratulations to those who received awards for all their hard learning during this first half of the year. Enjoy the photos.

Te Whare Tapa Wha - Born to Move

This is an exciting year for our school and the Senior Syndicate.  We are about to embark on this fitness program.  It is the Les Mills Born to Move fitness program for kids and after watching the students on their very first session with the Fitness instructors was tiring enough for Ms Tali 😲 but the students did an awesome job trying to keep up.  Eventually students from Team Folau will lead this and there have been a lot of enthusiasm from the students to become instructors.  Watch this space and see if any of Room 3 students get selected 👌

Students were seen to be having fun and enjoying every minute of it.  The instructors were just non stop.  Ms Ellis was having a great time on the side there and kept up with every dance step the instructors had.  Way to go Ms Ellis - we don't know how you do it.

Te Whare Tapa Wha - Taha Whanau

Taha Whanau Term 2 Week 12

This week we are learning about Taha Whanau and how important Whanau is to us in our classroom, school and at home.  Students looked at, 'what makes them feel' that they are part of a whanau that cares for them and their well being. They learned that sometimes the little things in life that they think doesn't mean anything to them does really play a huge impact on their wellbeing and is part and parcel of being in a Whanau.   The post it in white is what they think it looks like in our classroom, and the post its in purple is what they think it looks like in our school.  👌👀👪
