Commonwealth Games 2022

In 2022 the Commonwealth games is being held in Birmingham England. There are no lockdowns at the moment and most country borders are open.  There will be lots of people around the world visiting the games and of course we will be watching our New Zealand athletes on the television. Obviously N.Z time is way ahead of England time so most games will be at night or early in the mornings.

Room 3 is learning about the history of the Commonwealth games and why it exists.

Below is what we used de Bono hats to summarise of what we learned about the Commonwealth history.

Cook Island Language week

‘Ātuitui’ia au ki te Oneone o tōku ‘Ui Tupuna which means, connect me to the soil of my ancestors.

Kia orana it's that time of the year again. In Room 3 we are learning about the History of the Cook Islands that we did not know about. Here's a picture of some of the students in Room 3 wearing our very own hand made Ei - Katu we made last year for Cook Island Language week. Will update with more fun things we do this week.

We learnt about Cook Island History and had our own ideas about re-naming the Cook Islands and discussed whether the Cook Islands should be independent of the British and New Zealand. Here was our work we focused on.

ART
We also made our very own 'Tivaevae' from coloured paper cutting intrical and symmetrical shapes.

This special dish is called a Cook Island Potato Salad otherwise known as 'Minus' not too sure on the correct spelling but I do know that this bowl is always a staple on the table and works well with anything...for me in particular - minus, chicken, chop suey, and cornbeef!! better than a big mac combo! Thank you to the lovely Mrs Setera for providing a bowl of minus for Room 3 that Ms Tali will be the only one allowed to eat it! Goodbye Faafetai lava! Don't care - all mines!

Everybody's favourite dish - Cook Island donuts! We had so much to eat to end our celebrations - Our shared lunch was Pizza's, Fizz - thats right no sugar Fizz, iceblocks, biscuits, /chocolate brownies that Adia made - they were yum!

We even made our very own Cook Island Tivaevae patterns with coloured paper with Aiesha! It looked really awesome. Ms Tali is thinking whether to leave it on the floor or hang it in the cloak bay.
