This is an exciting year for our school and the Senior Syndicate. We are about to embark on this fitness program. It is the Les Mills Born to Move fitness program for kids and after watching the students on their very first session with the Fitness instructors was tiring enough for Ms Tali 😲 but the students did an awesome job trying to keep up. Eventually students from Team Folau will lead this and there have been a lot of enthusiasm from the students to become instructors. Watch this space and see if any of Room 3 students get selected 👌

Students were seen to be having fun and enjoying every minute of it. The instructors were just non stop. Ms Ellis was having a great time on the side there and kept up with every dance step the instructors had. Way to go Ms Ellis - we don't know how you do it.

Te Whare Tapa Wha - Taha Whanau
Taha Whanau Term 2 Week 12
This week we are learning about Taha Whanau and how important Whanau is to us in our classroom, school and at home. Students looked at, 'what makes them feel' that they are part of a whanau that cares for them and their well being. They learned that sometimes the little things in life that they think doesn't mean anything to them does really play a huge impact on their wellbeing and is part and parcel of being in a Whanau. The post it in white is what they think it looks like in our classroom, and the post its in purple is what they think it looks like in our school. 👌👀👪

The Arts
Tik-Tok Madness
In line with all the hype about Tik-Tok, students showcase a popular dance move from Tik-Tok as a warm up to their own choreography to Mr Wolf snippet. We do have the whole class in action with this one and that video clip will upload shortly - just as soon as the students edit all the riff raff, as part of their Digital Learning. 😆😆😆
The Arts
New Zealand Music Month of May 2020!
The students mission here was to create a dance movement to a famous NZ music group (we don't own copyright to the music). Each group was to come up with a movement for their small part of the song. So far here is a snippet of the groups who have semi finished. Their next step is to upload their part of the dance or re-record and edit. They are currently learning how to edit video clips. Watch this space for a new and improved video clip. As their learning progresses in The Arts and Digital Technology - so will the clips 👌👌👌😎😎

Taha Hinengaro Update
Te Whare Tapa Wha Term 2 Week 10
An update of our Taha Hinengaro Poster - students have been adding to our poster since my last post. Student's are showing understanding of other students negative comments can cause emotional stress and therefore being kind to each other and respectful is a happy classroom. 👌👌 Student's also learnt about writing To Do Lists -writing To Do Lists reminds us of important things we shouldn't forget and it makes us feel better that we achieve the things we're suppose to be doing. Students also learnt the differences between To Do Lists Verses A Bucket List. The Bucket List is something we want to do but not right now. Each student wrote their own lists and together we formed a Classroom To do list. We may look at some of those To Do's and treat them as Room 3 Bucket List right kids? 😉
Te Whare Tapa Wha-Taha Tinana
Taha Tinana Term 2 Week 10
This week our class is learning about Taha Tinana and what it looks like in our classroom. Students have written on post it notes what they think Taha Tinana is to them. As part of this study they are learning to write an exercise plan that would commit to everyday. Not too hard and not too easy. Students know that their physical well being is really important in order to stay fit, healthy and be active. 🙋
See below, a copy of Loimata's exercise plan to suit her.

Samoan Language week 2020
Term 2 Week 7
'Tapena sou oso mo lau malaga' Prepare yourself a gift for your travels.
COVID19 did not stop us from celebrating Samoan Language Week. The weather was not the best and although we did not have an assembly to showcase classroom performances, we managed to create something to acknowledge Samoan language week. Room 3 learnt about the delicious, healthy foods of Samoa and simple everyday words. Our panikeke's (pancakes) were demolished quickly before a photo could be taken 😮 and only managed to grab a few pics of muffins 😋 oh we mustn't forget the delicious Chocolate Cake one of our student's made - lets just call it a Samoan Sukalaki Keke! and lets just say that it was a 'gift' (oso) because I was 'travelling' (malaga) 😆😆😆 no, we shared it.

Health
We are learning to grow lemons and Spring Onions.
This week we learnt about growing our own healthy foods and our class decided to experiment growing lemons from seeds and Spring onions. Our lemons didn't grow as expected because we failed to do our research properly. We will be doing these again and this time we will research this thoroughly and see how it goes 😁
However, on a brighter note, our spring onions have sprouted and looking just fine in Week 8.😊 Each student will take theirs home to grow even further. Room 3 will continue to experiment in growing other nutrients throughout this term.

Week 6 Level 2 |
Week 8 Level 2 the one in the front didn't have any roots but we tested it and sure enough it didn't grow. Our lemons were dumped. We are going to try again 👍👍 |
